Pakistan Signs $730 Million Deal with Asian Development Bank

Pakistan has signed a Pakistan ADB agreement covering two major initiatives worth a total of $730 million, aimed at strengthening infrastructure and accelerating economic reforms.

The Pakistan ADB agreement includes a $330 million power transmission enhancement project and a $400 million program to accelerate reforms of state-owned enterprises.

Officials said the power transmission project will enable the reliable evacuation and delivery of about 2,300 megawatts of upcoming hydropower projects, easing pressure on existing lines and improving grid resilience.

Support for state-owned enterprise reforms

The SOE reform program is designed to improve operational efficiency and financial management, supporting fiscal sustainability and investor confidence.

ADB representatives said the Pakistan ADB agreement marks an important step in strengthening Pakistan’s power infrastructure and advancing structural reforms.
